Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a government grant that gives homeowners in England and Wales £7,500 towards the cost of installing an air source heat pump. The scheme is part of the government’s push to reduce carbon emissions and make energy-efficient heating more affordable. 

You don’t need to apply yourself — the application is made by your Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)-accredited installer (like us). We take care of the paperwork, and the grant amount is deducted directly from your installation cost.

Eligibility Criteria For Air Source Heat Pump Grants

DO YOU OWN YOUR PROPERTY?

To qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, your property must be located in England or Wales – and you must own the property you are applying for – even if it’s a business, second home or a property you rent to tenants.

ARE YOU UPGRADING FOSSIL FUEL SYSTEMS?

Grants may be available if you are replacing a fossil fuel heating system – such as oil, gas, electric or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) – even if you’ve had funding to make your property more energy efficient with insulation.

DO YOU HAVE A VALID ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE?

Your property must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). An EPC is valid for 10 years.  If you’re not sure whether your property is suitable for an air source heat pump – get in touch with us.
